Dakota Blue

 Dakota Blue Richards (born 11 April 1994) is an English actress from England. When she was just 13 years old, she made her film debut in The Golden Compass as Lyra Belacqua, the main character. Other leading roles include reckless teenager April in Dustbin Baby and Maria in the 2009 film The Secret of Moonacre. In 2011, she was Franky Fitzgerald in the third generation cast of British teenager drama Skins. She has appeared in roles on film, television as well as on the stage. Richards was born at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Fulham Road, London. She was born in Sussex by her parents which later relocated to Newlands School. After being a student at St Paul's Primary School, she attended Blatchington Mill School, Hove, and KBis Theatre School, Brighton. She later stated that she wanted to play Lyra. Ten thousand people were selected for auditions. Philip Pullman, the author of the books, said that "As soon I saw Dakota's screen-test, I realized that my search was over." Chris Weitz, director, said Richards did what was supposed to be a tough decision easy.
